Maintenance Tips
On this page i will try to explain
problematic and neglected areas in machine tool maintenance check back
soon for pictures and information.
- One of the most commonly overlooked areas in machine tool
maintenance is the way lube system.
- Machine tools like to be lubricated. Usually this is
performed by grease or way lube oil.
- if the machine is greased, then there will normally be zirc
fittings and the customer is aware of the lubrication points.
- When a machine tool has a way lube system, the customer
usually takes lubrication for granted. unfortunately this can
lead to costly parts and repairs.
- some of the parts that may get lubricated are
- Spindles
- Ballscrews
- Linear guides
- These are all expensive repairs and can be prevented or
prolonged with proper lubrication.
- Normally in the way lube system there are filters. one
input or suction filter and the other an output or pressure
filter. these filters are often neglected.
- When way lube filters are neglected the filter material
breaks down and gets into your way lube, which in turn clogs the
flow meter or restrictors that meter the oil to the specified
locations. this gives the machine a false sense of pressure.
so even though the machine is not giving you an alarm for lo
lube, the lubrication may not be getting to the desired
location.
- there are a lot of different lubrication systems on the
market. Reytech Machine recommends getting to know your system
and how it works.
